Die hard of Rabi’u Kwankwaso, Senator Rufa’i Hanga, representing Kano Central in the Nigerian Senate, has declared that he won’t join the All Progressives Congress (APC), but will campaign for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the 2027 gubernatorial election. Hanga, a member of the NDC Kwankwasiyya party in Kano, made the statement amidst speculations about his political future.
Hanga’s comments come after he was reportedly barred from contesting for his senatorial seat on the NDC Kwankwasiyya platform. He has since been critical of party leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, questioning his influence and reach. “Peter Obi won’t win the 2027 election because Kwankwaso’s influence is limited to Kano, and even there, it’s divided,” Hanga said.
Hanga’s decision to support Governor Abba, an APC member, has sparked interest in his political trajectory. Analysts see it as a strategic move, potentially paving the way for alliances or future party switches.
