No fewer than 51 workers of the Kano State Radio Corporation (Radio Kano) have been offered permanent and pensionable appointments following the approval of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to fill vacancies created by retired staff.
The Managing Director of the corporation, Comrade Abubakar Adamu Rano, announced the development during a ceremony held at the corporation, describing it as a landmark achievement in the history of Radio Kano.
Rano expressed appreciation to Governor Yusuf for approving the recruitment, and also commended the Head of Service and other stakeholders whose support made the exercise possible.
“This is a giant stride in the history of Radio Kano,” he said, adding that the appointments would strengthen the workforce and improve service delivery.
In their separate remarks, the Deputy Managing Director, Hajiya Zulaihat Yusuf Aji, and the Director of Administration and General Services, Hajiya Nafisa Abdulkadir Magashi, congratulated the newly appointed staff and urged them to uphold the rules and regulations of the civil service. They also encouraged the beneficiaries to remain dedicated and committed to achieving greater results for the corporation.
Also speaking at the event, the Kano State Chairman of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), Comrade Babangida Mamuda Biyamusu, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Radio Kano Chapel, Comrade Abdulsalam Na’iya Ibrahim Gwammaja, commended the Managing Director for facilitating the conversion of casual workers to permanent and pensionable staff.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, A’isha Ahmad expressed gratitude to the management and the Kano State Government, saying the beneficiaries were overwhelmed with joy and would reciprocate the gesture through dedication and improved service delivery.
