A newly recruited operative of the Sokoto State-owned security outfit, Sokoto Marshal, has died barely 24 hours after his passing-out parade. Mustapha Namadeena, who was commissioned on Thursday at Giginya Stadium, Sokoto, succumbed to an undisclosed ailment around 12 noon on Friday.
Namadeena, who served as Social Media Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto North LGA before joining the security outfit, had been unwell during training and was granted permission to return home for treatment. He only returned to the camp on the eve of the parade, according to a colleague.
The news of his death has sent shockwaves among his colleagues, who described him as humble, kind, and hardworking. “We stood side by side during the passing-out parade. His death came as a huge shock to all of us,” another colleague recalled.
Namadeena’s death has raised concerns about the training and welfare of recruits. The Sokoto Marshal service has yet to release an official statement on the circumstances surrounding his death.
The deceased’s commitment to public service, first as an APC official and later as a security operative, has been praised by those who knew him. His death is a loss to his family, friends, and the community.
