ZURMI, Zamfara — The Emir of Zurmi in Zamfara State, Alhaji Bello Suleiman, has died after spending five years on the throne.
The traditional ruler, who ascended the throne in 2021, died after a period of illness, according to sources close to the emirate.
Details surrounding his death were not immediately made public.
His death has thrown the Zurmi Emirate and the wider community into mourning, with residents, traditional leaders and political stakeholders expressing sadness over the loss of the monarch.
