A section of the New Gombe State House of Assembly Complex under construction has collapsed, resulting in one worker’s death and seven others sustaining injuries. The incident occurred on Friday and affected a cantilevered entrance canopy under construction.
The Permanent Secretary, Gombe State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation, Mr. Danladi Adamu, confirmed the incident, stating that five of the injured workers are receiving treatment at the Gombe State Specialist Hospital, while two others are being treated at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya has been briefed on the incident and has expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. He has directed that all injured workers receive comprehensive medical care at the government’s expense.
The governor has also ordered an investigation into the cause of the collapse and directed the contractor and project consultant to submit a formal incident report within 24 hours.
