The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has pledged to organize regular special training and improve the welfare of Public Relations Officers in ministries, agencies and local government councils to strengthen information dissemination to the public.
The Commissioner stated this at an interactive session with information and public relations officers. He said the government will hold such a meeting every month and honor outstanding officers to boost their morale in carrying out their duties.
Comrade Ibrahim Waiya stressed that the developmental projects being executed by the government in different parts of Kano State are not getting adequate publicity due to poor information dissemination.
Because of this, he urged public relations and information officers to be more committed to publicizing the projects, achievements and progress being recorded by the government in their ministries and at the grassroots. He also asked them to convey the complaints and needs of the people to the government.
He further disclosed that the ministry will launch two radio programs every week to sensitize the public on the activities of local government councils, ministries and government agencies.
Other speakers at the event included the Director of Information, Alhaji Aminu Kabir Yassar, the Director of Public Enlightenment, Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, and the Director of News and Current Affairs at Radio Kano, Comrade Nura Bala Ajingi.
They commended the organization of the meeting. According to them, it will further improve public relations work, boost information dissemination, and ensure that the public is aware of the good works being carried out by the government across Kano State.
