Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has received commendation for the recruitment of more than 7,000 primary and secondary school teachers across the state. The announcement was made on July 20, 2026, during the official inauguration of the new teachers held at the Indoor Sports Hall, Kofar Mata, in Kano metropolis.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Publicity, Hon. Ahmad S. Aruwa, disclosed the figure shortly after the event. He described the mass employment as a significant step by the administration to address unemployment among young graduates in the state.
“I am very impressed with Governor Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf for this gigantic effort aimed at providing job opportunities for our youth,” Aruwa said. He noted that the recruitment drive aligns with the government’s commitment to improving education and reducing joblessness.
The Special Adviser urged the newly employed teachers to demonstrate patriotism and professionalism in their duties. He emphasized that their conduct in the classrooms would determine the success of the state’s education reform agenda.
Aruwa also appealed to the beneficiaries to support the administration politically. He called on them to ensure the re-election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the 2027 general elections by voting massively for the APC. “So that more and more youth will continue to benefit,” he added.
Speaking earlier at the inauguration, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Mallam Yusuf Kabir, said the recruitment process was thorough. According to him, the successful candidates passed a rigorous examination and screening exercise to ensure that only qualified teachers were employed.
In another development, the Special Adviser accompanied Governor Yusuf, his Deputy Murtala Sule Garo, and the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, to commission a new school. The facility, named “Abba Kabir Yusuf” Government Girls Secondary School, is located in Dangwauro, Kumbotso Local Government Area.
Aruwa concluded by reaffirming his commitment to publicize policies and actions of the Yusuf administration. He said he would continue to promote government initiatives aimed at achieving set objectives in education and youth empowerment.
