France captain Kylian Mbappé finished as the highest goalscorer at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after netting 10 goals and providing four assists to claim the tournament’s Golden Boot.
Mbappé’s remarkable campaign placed him comfortably ahead of Argentina captain Lionel Messi, who concluded what is expected to be his final World Cup appearance with eight goals and four assists despite leading the defending champions to the final.
England midfielder Jude Bellingham finished third on the scoring chart with seven goals and one assist, edging Norway striker Erling Haaland, who also scored seven goals but failed to register an assist during the tournament.
France winger Ousmane Dembélé claimed fifth place after recording six goals and two assists, while England captain Harry Kane matched his six-goal tally but finished behind with one assist.
Newly crowned world champions Spain also had a representative among the tournament’s leading marksmen, with Mikel Oyarzabal scoring five goals and adding one assist during La Roja’s successful title campaign, which ended with a 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the final.
Senegal forward Ismaïla Sarr and Mexico striker Julián Quiñones both contributed four goals and one assist each, while Brazil winger Vinícius Júnior completed the top 10 after registering four goals and one assist.
The final standings underlined Mbappé’s dominance throughout the competition as the France forward once again demonstrated his reputation as one of world football’s deadliest attackers. Messi also reinforced his enduring quality by finishing second on the scoring chart at the age of 39.
